For items shipping to the United States

Under the new rule, before merchandise arriving by vessel can be imported into the United States, the "Importer Security Filing (ISF) Importer" buyer or their agent (e.g., licensed customs broker), must electronically submit certain advance cargo information to CBP in the form of an Importer Security Filing. This requirement only applies to cargo arriving in the United States by ocean vessel.

For items off loaded at Dar es Salaam port and transferred outside of Tanzania

Under the "East African Community Customs Management Act", those item(s) off loaded at Dar es Salaam port and transferred to outside of Tanzania require:

"LICENCE FOR VEHICLE/VESSEL CONVEYING TRANSIT GOODS".
The buyers or designated agents must apply for the license prior to of loading.

The cost to obtain C28 permit is approximately $300.
